SHASTA SHUT OUT BY BUTTE IN TWIN BILL

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's softball team was swept by Butte College 8-0, 8-0 on the road Saturday in a Golden Valley Conference doubleheader.

Butte's Savannah Wahl threw a perfect game against Shasta in the first game and managed two hits in the second, committing five total errors on the day.

In the first game, Shasta struck out nine times to Wahl, who got five runs from her offense in the third inning to pull away and seal it in the sixth with a two-run frame. A two-run homer by Kiya Hamar earned the walk-off win for the Roadrunners. Whitney Carnes struck out two, walked one and gave up three earned runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings.

In Game 2, Shasta's two singles were by Autumn Giannini and Autumn Campbell. Khloe Forrister and Giannini each drew a walk in the game. Wahl singled in Laney Berkowitz in the bottom of the sixth for the walk-off win. Carnes gave up four earned runs on six hits in 2.2 innings while Kaylie McDaniel gave up three runs on five hits in 2.1 innings.

Shasta wraps up the season with a doubleheader at Lassen on Tuesday, which is a makeup game from April 12. The Knights split in the last doubleheader against the Cougars.
