SHASTA COLLEGE SEEDED 13TH IN STATE PLAYOFFS

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College softball team was awarded the No. 13 seed in the California Community College Athletic Association Softball Northern Regional Playoffs over the weekend.

The Knights, who captured a share of the Golden Valley Conference title with a doubleheader sweep of rival Butte on Tuesday, play at No. 4 Sacramento City College. The best-of-3 game series starts Friday at 2 p.m. with the second game scheduled for Saturday at noon. If need, a tie-breaking third game is Saturday at 2 p.m.

Shasta is GVC champion for the second time in three years and enters the playoffs with 15 wins in the past 16 games. Shasta leads the state with 20 sacrifice flies and ranks 10th in strikeouts and 18th in ERA (2.37).

Sacramento City (29-8) won its final four games of the regular season and ranks among the state leaders in hits (10th), RBIs (10th), Total bases (12th), Doubles (11th), batting average (12th) and batting average against (seventh).
