SHASTA FALLS ON ROAD to BUTTE 80-68

OROVILLE, Calif. – Shasta College's men's basketball team lost 80-68 to Butte College on the road Saturday for its fourth straight loss in Golden Valley Conference play.

The Knights outscored the Roadrunners 36-35 in the second half, forcing Butte to shoot 0-for-5 from beyond the arc in that span. But it wasn't enough to overcome a 13-point halftime deficit.

Diante Rush led the Knights in scoring with 11 points while Carson Kingston and Josiah Hutt each contributed 10 points – all of Kingston's coming in the second half. Josiah Palumbo scored nine points and had a team-high two assists while Bekdoo Lewis grabbed a team-best nine rebounds in the loss.

Shasta had the edge in 3-point field goals (8 to 3), 3-point percentage (32 percent to 18 percent) and assists (12-8) but Butte scored 58 points in the paint including holding an 18-5 edge in second chance points to come away with the victory.

Shasta (0-4 GVC, 4-18) takes its eight-game losing streak into Saturday's home contest against College of the Redwoods.
