KNIGHTS WIN 2 OF 3 AT TREGS CLASSIC

EUREKA, Calif. – Shasta College's men's basketball team won two out of three games in the Tregs Classic Tournament at the College of the Redwoods, beating Mendocino 83-74 and Napa Valley 68-63 before losing to Southwestern Oregon 77-60.

Josiah Palumbo averaged 17.3 points across the tournament while Josiah Hutt averaged 16.7 points per game.

Shasta 83, Mendocino 74
The Knights trailed by nine at half but put up 50 in the second half to pull out the victory. Shasta outrebounded Mendocino 38-18 in the game with Josiah Hutt leading the way with nine boards to go with 19 points. Josiah Palumbo was the leading scorer for the Knights with 22 points and he added four steals and three assists. Carson Kingston chipped in with 15 points off the bench and Kevin Cox contributed 11 points, six boards and a team-high five assists.

Shasta 68, Napa Valley 63
The Knights built an 11-point halftime lead and it was enough to hold on to win in back-to-back games for the first time this season. Palumbo, Hutt and Kingston each scored 18 points and Hutt added nine rebounds. Palumbo's five assists led the team and Shasta shot 81 percent from the free throw line (17 of 21) in the game.

Southwestern Oregon 77, Shasta 60
Shasta outscored Southwestern Oregon 35-34 in the second half but couldn't overcome the 18-point deficit. Hutt came off the bench to score a team-high 13 points while Palumbo added 12 points and six rebounds, Colton Chroman scored nine points, Cox chipped in with a team-high eight rebounds, two assist and two steals.
