JOHNSON AMONG STATE LEADERS IN REBOUNDING

SUSANVILLE, Calif. – Shasta College's Hunter Johnson continued his dominance around the rim on Saturday in a blowout 84-48 road win over Lassen College to open Golden Valley Conference play.

The 6-foot-5 sophomore forward from Manteca scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for his seventh double-double on the year. Johnson ranks sixth in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) in defensive rebounds (120) and total rebounds (172) with an average of 9.6 per game to go with his 13.6 scoring average.

Johnson wasn't the only standout Saturday against Lassen as five Knights scored in double figures in the lopsided affair. Shasta led 42-18 at half and buried a season-high 18 3-pointers in the victory, six each from sophomores Blake Trent and Zach Lowe, who both finished with 20 points. Sophomore Kellen Gerig chipped in with 15 points and sophomore David O'Brien scored 10 points off the bench.

Sophomore point guard Jordan Spaschak led the Knights with eight assists while Johnson had six.

Shasta (10-8, 1-0 GVC) has its GVC home-opener against College of the Siskiyous (2-14) Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
