SPASCHAK'S TRIPLE-DOUBLE FUELS KNIGHTS' VICTORY

WEED, Calif. – Shasta College sophomore point guard Jordan Spaschak recorded his first triple-double of the season in a 77-62 victory over Lane College (Oregon) in the College of the Siskiyous Tournament on Dec. 28.

Spaschak scored 13 points, dished 14 assists, and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Knights in their final tournament before Golden Valley Conference action. He leads the state in assists with 112 on the season – an average of 6.6 per game.

The Knights (9-8) are benefitting from Spaschak's distribution. Sophomore Kellen Gerig finished with a team-best 23 points and added eight rebounds in the win over Lane. All five starters were in double figures with sophomore Blake Trent scoring 14 points on four 3-pointers, sophomore Hunter Johnson contributing 13 points, and sophomore Zach Lowe chipping in with 12 points on four 3s.

Shasta followed the win with a 105-67 defeat to UMQUA College (Oregon) on Dec. 29. Shasta trailed 51-34 at halftime and couldn't recover. Sophomore Grant Smith came off the bench to score a game-high 17 points, fueled by five 3-pointers. Gerig scored 16 points, Lowe added 11 points, and freshman Tanner Guinn came off the bench to score 10 points.
