KNIGHT MEN WIN FIFTH STRAIGHT

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's men's basketball team won both games at the College of the Redwoods Tournament over the weekend, beating Southwestern Oregon 77-54 and Simpson University's JV team 96-65.

The Knights (6-3) have extended their winning streak to five games, outscoring their opponents by an average of 22.8 points per game in that span.

Sophomores Blake Trent and Zach Lowe each made eight 3-pointers across the two games, scoring in double figures in both.

Against Southwestern Oregon, Shasta had four starters score in double digits with sophomores Jordan Spaschak (16 points, 12 assists) and Hunter Johnson (15 points, 15 rebounds) each recording a double-double. Trent added 13 points on three 3s and Lowe pitched in with 10 points.

In the lopsided win over Simpson, Shasta buried a season-best 20 3s with five players each making at least three. Lowe was one of those, nailing 6 of his 8 attempts from beyond the arc for 22 points. Trent was 5 of 9 from downtown for 15 points. Johnson chipped in with 17 points and a team-best six boards, and sophomore Kellen Gerig scored 10 points.

Sophomore David O'Brien scored 11 points off the bench, including a trio of 3s, and freshman Dayton Skeen scored nine points on three 3s.
