KNIGHTS HIT HARD IN OPENING SERIES VS. COSUMNES RIVER

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's baseball team was swept by Cosumnes River College in the opening weekend of the season, falling 9-1, 12-1 and 17-2.

Cosumnes River 9, Shasta 1
The Knights surrendered seven runs in the third inning and managed three hits in the contest. Garret Finch's pinch-hit solo home run accounted for Shasta's lone run. Hayden Boyes and Danny Carralero Bermudez each had a single. Ian Bauer struck out four, walked two and gave up nine runs – three earned – on eight hits in three innings to take the loss. Paul Luebbers struck out three and walked three while tossing four innings of hitless relief.

Cosumnes River 12, Shasta 1
Shasta totaled four hits and committed three errors on the game. William Mager's RBI double in the third was the only run for the Knights. Baron Delameter was 2 for 4 with a run and Boyes had a single. Justin Evasovic got the start for Shasta and gave up five runs on five hits in three innings to suffer the loss. Shasta used six pitchers in the game.

Cosumnes River 17, Shasta 2
Cosumnes River opened the game up with a two-run first inning and never looked back, routing Shasta with 17 runs on 16 hits and taking advantage of seven errors from the Knights. Andrew Shanks took the loss for Shasta after allowing five runs on five hits across the first three innings. Four of Shasta's five pitchers gave up a run. Boyes was 2 for 4 with a double and a run, Brenden Eberle was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI and Finch was 2 for 2 with an RBI.
