SHASTA DROPS 4 OF 5 TO FEATHER RIVER

QUINCY, Calif. – The Shasta College baseball team beat Feather River College 11-5 at home before losing four straight to the Golden Eagles on the road 13-8, 4-2, 18-5 and 8-4.

Shasta 11, Feather River 5
The Knights used seven runs across the fifth and sixth innings to pull away for the win. AJ Davies was 3 for 4 with an RBI and three runs, Keanu Mizuta was 2 for 5 with three RBIs and a run, Giacomo Crosetti was 2 for 2 with three RBIs and a run, Shea Bowen scored twice and walked three times and Jude Marquez scored twice. Shasta cycled through seven pitchers and Cade Jacobson earned the win in relief.

Feather River 13, Shasta 8
All 21 runs in the game were scored before the sixth inning. Bowen was 2 for 5 with an RBI and two runs, Mizuta was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, Julian Esqueda was 2 for 4, Jaydon Green scored twice and had an RBI and Davies was 1 for 4 with an RBI. PJ Luebbers took the loss after allowing four earned runs on four hits in 1.1 innings of relief. Jay Mendez gave up two runs on six hits in the final 5.1 innings for the Knights, including four scoreless frames.

Feather River 4, Shasta 2
The Golden Eagles scored three in the opening frame and added another in the second to get past the Knights. Mizuta and Drew Reynolds each hit solo home runs and Reynolds was 4 for 4 in the game. Tysson Unciano struck out two and allowed four runs on four hits in 1.2 innings to take the loss. Andrew Hurrelbrink, Jacobson and Ryan Rudd combined to throw 6.1 shutout innings of relief.

Feather River 18, Shasta 5 (8)
The Knights gave up a walk-off grand slam as part of a 10-run eighth inning for the Golden Eagles. Stephen Nelson had three of Shasta's seven hits in the game and drove in a run. Mizuta was 1 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs, Noah Weaver had a double and scored a run and Reynolds scored twice. Peyton Russell took the loss after giving up five runs on two hits in 1 inning.

Feather River 8, Shasta 4
The Knights led 4-3 in the seventh before giving up five runs in the bottom half of the frame. Crosetti was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Hayes Eden had a triple and a scored a run, Mizuta was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run and Davies was 1 for 4 with an RBI and a run. Bowen didn't factor into the decision after striking out two and walking two while allowing one unearned run on four hits in five innings. Hurrelbrink took the loss after giving up three runs and walking two in one inning.

Shasta plays at College of the Siskiyous twice this week.
