KNIGHTS WIN THREE GAMES AGAINST REDWOODS, LASSEN

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's baseball team won three out of four Golden Valley Conference games last week, beating College of the Redwoods 4-2 and then taking two of three against Lassen College, losing 11-1 before winning 6-5 and 8-7.

Shasta 4, Redwoods 2
A two-run single from Stephen Nelson in the first got the Knights moving and Shasta added an insurance run on Jude Marquez's RBI double in the fifth. Marquez was 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run, Shea Bowen was 3 for 4 with two runs and Nelson had two RBIs. Gavin Guard got the win on the hill after throwing five scoreless innings and giving up four hits with three strikeouts. Bowen picked up the save by striking out the side in the ninth.

Lassen 11, Shasta 1 (7)
The Cougars scored five in the first and then four in the top of the seventh to enforce the mercy-rule. Shasta collected seven hits – all singles – with Drew Reynolds leading the way with hits 2 for 2 day. Nelson drove in the lone Shasta RBI. Alex Alvarez gave up seven runs – four earned – on five hits in one inning to take the loss. Ryan Rudd threw 5.2 innings of relief, giving up one earned run on two hits.

Shasta 6, Lassen 5
Giacomo Crosetti stole home on a double steal in the fifth inning to score the go-ahead run for the Knights. Reynolds was 2 for 3 with a two-run home run, Bowen was 2 for 5 and Crosetti, Hayes Edens and Ritchie each drove in a run. Cade Jacobson struck out two and walked one while giving up five earned runs on seven hits in five innings to earn the win. Bowen picked up his second save of the week, tossing two scoreless innings of relief.

Shasta 8, Lassen 7
The Knights rallied late with a two-run homer from Keanu Mizuta in the eighth and a two-run single from Nelson in the ninth to top the Cougars on the road. Marquez was 2 for 4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs, Nelson was 2 for 5 with a double and three RBIs, Reynolds was 2 for 5 with two runs, Crosetti, Edends and Bowen each hit a double, Mizuta's lone hit was his fifth home run of the year and Jaydon Green was 2 for 3 with a double. Peyton Russell got the win, tossing three scoreless innings of relief to end the game.

Shasta (6-4 GVC, 14-11) plays three games on the road against College of the Redwoods this week – one on Friday and two Saturday.
