KNIGHTS UPSET BUTTE, WIN TWO GVC MATCHES

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's volleyball team picked up two Golden Valley Conference wins last week, sweeping Lassen College before upsetting No. 24 Butte College in four sets at home.

The Knights extended their winning streak to three matches, the second longest streak this season since capturing five straight wins from Sept. 15 to Oct. 2.

Jennifer Troxclair registered double-digit kills in both matches last week to lead the Shasta attack while the Knights added 18 service aces on the week.

Shasta swept Lassen 25-3, 25-17, 25-20, marking the lowest single-set score against the Knights this season. Freshman Presley Hamilton recorded 12 kills in 18 attempts and Troxclair had 10 kills in 17 attempts as seven different players register kills. Sarah Ault dished 27 assists, Olivia Sladek had four aces, three kills and a pair of blocking assists and Aliyah Rosado-Cruz had 12 digs.

In the win over Butte, Shasta won 25-13, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19 behind Troxclair's double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs. Danielle Stroscher had nine kills, one solo block and five blocking assists, Hamilton totaled seven kills and 13 digs and a block, Emma Friar had four kills and Sladek had four kills, three aces and a solo block. Ault totaled 35 assists while Rosado-Cruz racked up 32 digs.

Rosado-Cruz ranks fifth in the state in digs (422) and ninth in digs per set (5.78).

Shasta (6-2, GVC, 14-8) will honor its sophomores in its final home match on Wednesday against No. 1 Feather River at 6 p.m. before traveling to College of the Redwoods Friday for the regular season finale.
