SHASTA SWEEPS REDWOODS, FALLS TO FEATHER RIVER

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College volleyball team split its Golden Valley Conference matches last week, sweeping College of the Redwoods 25-22, 25-11, 25-15 on Wednesday before losing in straight sets to No. 2 Feather River 25-20, 25-14, 25-21 on Friday.

Sophomore hitter Jennifer Troxclair led the Knights attack against the Corsairs with 10 kills following by freshman Presley Hamilton's eight kills. Sarah Ault dished 20 assists, Olivia Sladek had a pair of solo blocks and sophomore Aliyah Rosado-Cruz racked up 15 digs and three service aces – both team highs.

In the loss to the Golden Eagles, ranked No. 2 in the state, Shasta's attack was spread out with Troxclair leading the way with six kills. Freshman Emma Friar pitched in with five kills and Danielle Stroscher and Hamilton tallied four kills apiece. Rosado-Cruz had 18 digs in the match.

At the halfway point of conference play, Rosado-Cruz ranks second in the state in digs (364) and eighth in the state in digs per set (5.78) while Ault ranks 10th in services aces (42).

Shasta moves to 3-2 in GVC and 11-8 overall and hosts College of the Siskiyous Friday at 6 p.m. in its only match this week.
