SHASTA TOPS REDWOODS, TIES FRC TO END SEASON

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's soccer team beat visiting College of the Redwoods 2-1 and followed it up with a 2-2 draw at home against Feather River to close out the season.

In the win over Redwoods, Shasta scored both of its goals within three minutes of each other in the first half and hung on for victory. Abagail Moore and Sienna Goehring assisted Sophia Triantafyllou in the 30th minute and Moore found the back of the net on an assist from Ava Arsenault in the 32nd minute. Goalkeeper Reagan Mello had 10 saves on 11 opportunities, allowing one second half goal. Shasta totaled 26 shots in the match, including eight on goal. Triantafyllou had three shots on goal and Moore had two.

The Knights closed out the regular season with a 2-2 draw against Feather River. Moore assisted Triantafyllou in the 29th minute to tie it at 1 and Moore scored seconds before the half on an assist from Triantafyllou and Serena Elwood. Feather River scored the equalizer in the 53rd minute and the match played to a draw.

Shasta finished 5-4-1 in Golden Valley Conference play and 5-10-1 overall.

Triantafyllou led the Knights in scoring with eight goals and Moore followed with seven goals. Elwood scored three goals on the season. Moore and Triantafyllou each tallied four assists to tie for the team lead. Mello recorded 70 saves and allowed 28 goals for a save percentage of 71.4 percent.
