SHASTA BLANKS REDWOODS FOR FIRST SHUTOUT OF SEASON

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's soccer team split two matches last week, falling to Sacramento City College 4-3 before shutting out College of the Redwoods 3-0 on the road.
The Knights struck first in the non-conference loss to Sacramento City with Reagen Mello assisting Sophia Triantafyllou in the 4th minute. Mello assisted Alyssa Hartman in the 37th minute to tie it at 2 at the half. The Knights scored in the 67th minute on Cassandra Berdejo's goal from Sienna Goehring but Sac City scored twice in four minutes to win. Mello totaled 14 saves in goal for the Knights.
Shasta recorded its first shutout of the season in the win over Redwoods. Talya Darkwa assisted Serena Elwood in the 3rd minute. Shasta took a 2-0 lead on Redwoods' own goal and Elwood found the back of the net on Ava Arsenault's assist in the 62nd minute. Mello totaled seven saves in the clean sheet.
