SHASTA DOWNS SISKIYOUS FOR FIRST WIN

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College women's soccer team beat College of the Siskiyous 6-1 for its first victory of the season in the Golden Valley Conference opener.

The Knights took a 4-0 halftime lead, scoring twice in the first 10 minutes and Abagail Moore scored two unassisted goals in the final two minutes of the half. Kayanna Chao scored an unassisted goal in the 47th minute and Sophia Triantafyllou added a goal – her second of the match – in the 55th minute.

Moore scored two goals and added an assist, Triantafyllou scored twice, Sarah Gordon scored a goal and Chao had a goal. Reagen Mello didn't allow a goal in 60 minutes in net.

Shasta had 25 shots in the game and all six shots on goal were scored.

Earlier in the week, Shasta fell 10-0 to Sierra College to wrap up non-conference play. Triantafyllou and two shots on goal and Mello had another. Mello had four saves in goal and Gordon had three saves, each playing in one half.

Shasta (1-0, 1-4) hosts Butte College on Tuesday and Lake Tahoe on Friday.
