KNIGHTS WIN ONE OF THREE AT SAN MATEO TOURNAMENT

SAN MATEO, Calif. – The Shasta College women's basketball team won one of three games at the San Mateo Tournament. The Knights lost to West Los Angeles 60-57 in overtime, fell to Taft 64-47 and beat Foothill 64-34.

West LA 60, Shasta 57 (OT)
The Knights led by one at half and only mustered two points in the extra period. Shasta shot 4 of 18 (22 percent) from beyond the arc, all makes from Gigi Velasquez, who tallied a team-best 16 points. Graceyn Harlan scored 14 points and had nine rebounds, Emma Gaddy had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, Creedence Shaver had a double-double with 11 points and 15 boards and Bailey Matos dished six assists.

Taft 64, Shasta 47
Shasta trailed 30-20 at halftime and couldn't catch up. The Knights shot 2 of 14 (14 percent) from 3-point range. Matos paced Shasta in scoring with 12 points, Shaver scored 10 points to go with nine boards and Harlan chipped in with 10 points. Velasquez added eight rebounds and seven assists in the loss.

Shasta 64, Foothill 34
Shasta pulled out to a 28-18 lead at halftime and finished the game by outscoring its opponent by 11 in the final period. Shasta held Foothill scoreless from downtown and outrebounded them 55-22. Gaddy scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, Harlan turned in a dominating double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Velasquez scored eight points and had nine rebounds and Shaver scored eight points to go with seven boards.
