KNIGHTS SPLIT AT MONTEREY CROSSOVER

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's basketball team split at the Monterey Peninsula College Crossover, falling to Folsom Lake 90-65 and beat host Monterey Peninsula 63-50 over the weekend.

Folsom Lake 90, Shasta 65
Shasta trailed 25-11 after the opening quarter but nearly matched Folsom Lake in the second half, only being outscored by six. Shasta shot 26 percent (5 of 19) from 3-point range and 50 percent from the free throw line (8 of 16). Gracelyn Harlan came off the bench to lead the Knights in scoring with 21 points to go with five rebounds and Bailey Matos scored 17 points and grabbed five boards. Gigi Velasquez scored 11 points and had six rebounds and six assists.

Shasta 63, Monterey Peninsula 50
The Knights jumped out to a 12-3 lead after the opening quarter and led 30-17 at half. Shasta out-rebounded Monterey 45-28 in the game and was led by Ryleigh Hart's 12 boards. Emma Gaddy scored a team-high 23 points and Harlan came off the bench to score 17 points. Creedence Shaver pulled down nine rebounds, Hart recorded five steals and six assists – both team-highs.

Shasta (2-3) plays at American River College on Thursday.
