KNIGHTS HANDLE LASSEN IN SEASON FINALE

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's basketball team lost to College of the Redwoods 63-58 at home but pounded Lassen 83-50 in the final game of the season.

Shasta struggled shooting against the Corsairs for the second time in as many weeks but turned it around to finish the season on a high note to end the year.

The Knights led 32-30 at half but couldn't catch the Corsairs despite an off-shooting night that saw Shasta make 3 of 17 (17 percent) from 3-point range and make 5 of 9 free throw attempts. Lexi Robbins came off the bench to lead Shasta in scoring with 16 points while Amber Wallace scored 13 points. Isabela Padilla scored seven points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

Shasta used a 34-point second quarter to pull away from Lassen and finished the game by outscoring the Cougars 22-8 in the final period in a game that was rescheduled from Jan. 15. Shasta made 11 3-pointers in the game, the fourth time the Knights achieved that feat on the season, three of which in conference play.

Sophomore Riley Wallen scored 21 points in her last game as a Knight and sophomore Megan Collins scored 21 points, dished six assists, had five rebounds and grabbed four steals. Wallace scored 13 points to go with seven boards, Padilla had eight points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals and Robbins scored 12 points off the bench.

Shasta finishes the season 16-9 overall and finished fourth in Golden Valley Conference play at 4-6. Amber Wallace led Shasta in scoring with 311 points and a 12.4 points per game average while the Knights had three players average in double figures with Collins (12.0) and Wallen (11.6) behind her. Padilla (9.4) and Kaleia Mizuta (8.2) rounded out the top five scorers on the season.

Wallace averaged a double-double on the season with 12.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Wallen paired her 11.6 points with 8.4 rebounds per game. Collins was the team-leader in assists (4.9 per game) and steals (3.2 per game). Mizuta led the Knights with 42 made 3-pointers while Wallen made 41 and Collins had 40.
