OROVILLE, Calif. – Shasta College sophomore Alyssa Burke won three events at the Butte College Opener, capturing the women's high jump, long jump and triple jump.
Burke's marks in the high jump and triple jump qualified her for the CCCAA Track and Field State Championships A standard.
The Knight men had one event victory with Rief Ehlerding winning the 1,500 meters. Overall, Shasta's men's team had six top-five finishes while the women had eight out of nine event participants.
MEN
100 meters: Anthony McFall was sixth (11.41), Eli Cortinas was 20th (12.18), Cameron Williams was 21st (12.21), Caden Vanscoyk was 27th (12.52), Juan Chavez was 30th (14.42).
200 meters: McFall was 10th (23.25), Williams was 16th (24.73), Jordan Hernandez was 20th (25.41).
400 meters: Jackson Reindel was 20th (54.93), Jonathan Simon was 22nd (55.47).
800 meters: Gage Bellomo was third (2:04.49).
1,500 meters: Ehlerding won in 4:27.50, Craig Hall was eighth (5:32.86).
5,000 meters: Devon Hammeke was sixth (17:44.70).
High Jump: Anthony Pigoni-Covington was second (6-foot, 2.75 inches), Evan Dobson was fifth (5-7).
Long Jump: Pigoni-Covington was second (21-5.25), Vanscoyk was 10th (18-8.5), Dobson was 12th (18-4.5).
Shot Put: Chavez was seventh (33-10.25), Chase Barnes was ninth (32-4.75).
Discus: Barnes was 10th (88-2).
Hammer Throw: Barnes was seventh (90-10), Chavez was eighth (79-0).
Javelin: Barnes was third (115-5).
WOMEN
100 meters: Abagail Moore was second (13.31), Chloe Whitmire was third (13.34).
200 meters: Whitmire was fourth (27.11), Moore was sixth (27.19).
High Jump: Burke won with a jump of 5-1.
Long Jump: Burke won with a jump of 17-0.75, Sara Peters was third (14-3.25).
Triple Jump: Burke won with a jump of 37-0.25.
Javelin: Peters was third (90-10).
