GRIFFITH WINS TWO EVENTS IN DUAL MEET

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College women's swimming and diving team won six events against Delta College in a home dual meet at Shasta College on Tuesday.

Freshman Abby Griffith was the lone Knight to win multiple events, capturing the 50-yard freestyle in 27.22 seconds and the 500 free in 5:41.60. Griffith was also second in the 1,000 free (11:49.70).

Shasta's other event winners were Dana McMurtrey in the 200 free (2:10.04), Jericho Strege in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.27), Shiree Wasko in the 100 backstroke (1:09.92), and Angelique Passidakis in 3-meter diving (90.55 points).

In diving, Passidakis was second in 1-meter diving (131 points) and Suzette Chavez was third in 1-meter diving (94.3 points).

The Knights had eight other top-three finishes in the women events. McMurtrey was second in the 100 free (59.57) and was third in the 100 back (1:10.69), Strege was third in both the 50 free (28.04) and 100 butterfly (1:09.54), Wasko was second in the 200 Individual Medley (2:31.35) and was third in the 100 breast (1:21.33), Haley Moebes was second in the 50 free (27.54), and Mirena Guillot was third in the 200 free (2:18.84).

Stephanie Parsons finished fourth in all three of her events: 200 IM (2:37.36), 100 fly (1:10.87) and 500 free (6:14.44), Nicole Keane's best finish was fifth in the 1,000 free (14:49.10), and Moebes was fifth in the 100 free (1:01.95).

None of the Shasta College men won an event, though, the Knights had 14 top-five finishes.

Wyatt Baldree was second in the 100 fly (1:11.75) and third in the 200 IM (2:27.25) and 100 back (1:11.63), Jared Marrs was second in both the 50 free (25.43) and 100 breast (1:10.82), Joaquin Silva was third in the 1,000 free (13:10.18), and Bryon Upshaw was third in the 200 free (2:12.82) and fourth in the 200 IM (2:31.60). Ben Morris' best finish was fourth in the 200 free (2:21.55) and Christian Hoheisel finished fifth in the 50 free (28.74) and 100 fly (1:21.11).

Mitchell Palmer was fifth in all three of his events: 500 free (6:40.77), 100 breast (1:22.79) and 1,000 free (14:13.86).
