KNIGHTS SWEPT BY FEATHER RIVER, BEATS LASSEN

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's softball team lost a home doubleheader to Feather River 4-3 and 10-0 but swept Lassen College at home 5-4, 5-0 last week in Golden Valley Conference action.

Feather River 4, Shasta 3
The Golden Eagles tied the game at 3 on an error in the top of the seventh and added the go-ahead run in the eighth on a solo home run from Caitlyn James. Whitney Carnes took the eight-inning loss despite striking out 10 and walking one while allowing three earned runs on seven hits. Cora Peterson was 2 for 3 with a double and a run, Kiley Wendt was 2 for 5 with a run, Macey Bunn had an RBI and a run and Khloe Forrister was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Feather River 10, Shasta 0 (5)
Shasta was no-hit in the shortened game and had only one base runner with Wendt drawing a walk. Peterson gave up seven earned runs on 10 hits in five innings to take the loss.

Shasta 5, Lassen 4
The Knights scored three in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win. Riley Horton hit a two-run homer and Bunn singled in Autumn Tenney for the walk-off win. Bunn was 3 for 4 with a triple, RBI and a run, Forrister was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs. Carnes got the win in relief. She struck out six, walked one and didn't allow a hit across four scoreless frames.

Shasta 5, Lassen 0
An RBI double from Peterson got the offense going in the third and Autumn Campbell's two-run double in the sixth gave the Knights plenty of cushion for the sweep. Campbell was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs, Peterson was 1 for 3 with a double, RBI and a run, and Forrister and Jadlyn Woolery each scored a run. Carnes took the win, striking out nine in the two-hit complete-game shutout.

Shasta (2-2 GVC, 4-9) hosts College of the Redwoods in a home doubleheader on Friday.
