KNIGHT MEN WINLESS AT WAGNER CLASSIC

HAYWARD, Calif. – Shasta College's men's basketball team opened the season with three losses at the John L. Wagner Memorial Classic. The Knights fell to Ohlone 79-53, lost to Alameda 81-76 and dropped a game against Modesto 75-44.

Ohlone 79, Shasta 53
The Knights trailed 39-21 at half and couldn't catch up in the season opener. The Knights shot 29 percent from the floor but was out-rebounded 60-24. Nine Shasta players scored in the game with Hunter Warren leading the way with nine points off the bench. Aiden Pearsall-Morgan, Evan Martinez and Tyrese Christie tallied eight points each. Carson Kingston pulled down a team-best five rebounds and Martinez grabbed three steals.

Alameda 81, Shasta 76
Shasta trailed by 11 at half but outscored Alameda 44-38 in the second half. Alameda shot 50 percent from the floor (8 of 16) compared to Shasta's 26 percent (7 of 27) and the Knights won the battle of the boards with a 38-28 rebounding advantage. All 10 Shasta players scored in the game. Pearsall-Morgan paced Shasta with 20 points, Kingston scored 14 points to pair with eight rebounds and Martinez dished nine assists.

Modesto 75, Shasta 44
Shasta fell behind 39-28 at halftime and was outscored 36-16 in the second half. The Knights were out-rebounded 45-17 in the game with Kyler Contreras leading the way with four boards. Pearsall-Morgan led the team in scoring with seven points while Kingston and Kendell Gerig each chipped in with six points.
