SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Shasta College receiver Jahari Johnson caught seven passes for 130 yards and a touchdown but the Knights fell to Santa Rosa Junior College 38-21 on the road.

Shasta surrendered 21 straight points in the third quarter to trail 24-14 until Randy Gibson hauled in a 15-yard touchdown pass from Levi Durrell to cut the deficit to three. But that was as close as the Knights could get.

The Bear Cubs scored the final 14 points of the contest with Tristian Smith finding the end zone on a 15-yard run on the second play of the fourth quarter and quarterback Dominic Felciano racing to the end zone on a 10-yard run on the ensuing drive to cap the scoring. Eli Wehbey threw an interception on the following Knight possession and the hole was too big for Shasta to climb out of.

Wehbey completed 11 of 24 passes for 109 yards and threw a 25-yard touchdown in the first half to Johnson.

Dominick Menegas forced a fumble that Jabrayan Richburg returned 48 yards for a touchdown for a 7-3 lead and Johnson capped a seven-play drive that took 3 minutes, 30 seconds with his fourth touchdown catch of the season.

The Knights took the 14-3 advantage into halftime but the Bear Cubs responded with a big third quarter from Felciano, who threw touchdown passes of 78, 39 and 38 yards in the period.

Shasta converted 2 of 13 on third downs and was outgained 452-234 in the game. Eli Cortinas was the leading rusher for the Knights with 37 yards on 10 carries and Jason Abbey rushed 12 times for 27 yards.

Johnson recorded his fourth 100-yard game on the year and accounted for seven of the team's 14 catches. Pete Pennington was the only other Knight to have more than one reception with two for five yards.

Defensively, Shasta's Gavin Skerik recorded a team-best nine tackles while Javon Edwards racked up six tackles and Kaden Bryant finished with five tackles. Richburg and Menegas each had two sacks in the game while Tanner Dobeck and Osirus Mitchell-Peoples each had a sack.

Shasta falls to 0-4 in NorCal Conference play and 1-8 on the season and heads home to play Butte College in the season finale.
