KNIGHTS BEAT SISKIYOUS, SWEPT BY LASSEN

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College baseball team beat College of the Siskiyous 15-5 at home last week but lost both games of a Golden Valley Conference series against Lassen over the weekend, falling 14-2 and 14-3.

The pair of losses to Lassen gave the season series to the Cougars 4-1, both teams were assigned a loss from a forfeit earlier in the year.

Shasta 15, Siskiyous 5
Kaden Nicholes struck out five, walked four and gave up four runs on four hits to earn the win on the mound for the Knights. Derek Ray led Shasta at the plate, going 3 for 5 with a his fifth home run of the year, two doubles, four RBIs and scored twice. Ethan Williams was 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs, Max Nebel was 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles, three RBIs and two runs, Stephen Nelson was 2 for 4 with an RBI, two runs, Giacomo Crosetti was 1 for 3 with two runs and Chris Jacobsen was 1 for 2 with an RBI and three runs.

Lassen 14, Shasta 2
The Knights surrendered seven runs in the third inning. Crosetti was the lone Shasta player with a multi-hit day, going 2 for4. Nicholas Newton had a double, Shane Taylor was 1 for 2 with an RBI and a run and Jaden Gorge scored a run. Payton Jeffries got the start and allowed 10 runs – seven earned – on 11 hits in four innings to take the loss.

Lassen 14, Shasta 3
Lassen blew the game open with a six-run fourth, scoring five runs on Nicholes during his start that lasted 3.1 innings. Gorge was 2 for 3 with a double and a run, Nelson was 2 for 4 with a triple and a run, Nebel was 1 for 3 with a run and Crosetti drove in a run.

Shasta (5-16 GVC, 10-24) hosts Cosumnes River on Monday before wrapping up the regular season at Siskiyous Tuesday and the final two games at College of the Redwoods on Wednesday and Thursday.
