REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's baseball team lost all three games last week, including a doubleheader against Canada College.

Sophomore Easton Waterman hit his first home run of the year and sophomore Payton Edwards clubbed his second homer of the season. Edwards continued his hot streak with multiple hits in each of the three games. Edwards is 12 for his last 19 and is hitting .560 (14 for 25) during his six-game hitting streak.

Shasta is 2-9 overall and hosts Sierra College on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Yuba College 8, Shasta College 3
The Knights surrendered four runs in the opening frame and couldn't catch the 49ers. Starter Brooks Horton took the loss, giving up three runs and walking three. Edwards had three of Shasta's eight hits, going 3 for 5 with an RBI and two runs. Mikey Perrine was 2 for 4, and Daniel Duarte and Nolan Kenny each had a hit an drove in a run.

Canada 9, Shasta 5
The Knights got a three-run home run from Waterman to rally for a three-run seventh-inning to cut the lead to three but that would be as close as they would get. That is the only hit Waterman had while Edwards hit a solo homer as part of his 2 for 5 day. Cody Morrison was 2 for 3 with a run and Andrew Durrer was 1 for 4 with a double.

Shasta starter Max Holtzclaw took the loss, giving up seven earned runs on 13 hits in 3.2 innings, fanning two and walking four. Cameron Falcon struck out three and allowed on run on two hits in the final 4.1 innings.

Canada 11, Shasta 10 (8 innings)
Shasta led 10-6 entering the bottom of the eighth inning but gave up a two-run homer, a bases loaded single, a sacrifice fly and an RBI single to lose the lead.

Edwards continued his hot start with his fourth straight multi-hit game, going 3 for 5 with a double, an RBI and two runs. Eric Papas was 2 for 4 with a solo home run, Noah Jones was 1 for 4 with two runs and Jakob Weiser was 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run.

Shasta's Nathan Hansen took the loss in relief, giving up five runs on three hits in one inning of relief. Starter Colby Milligan allowed five runs on five hits in 2.2 innings and Jordan Akins gave up on unearned run on four hits in 4.1 frames of work.
