SHASTA LOSES TO MODESTO, BEATS MARIN TO SPLIT ON WEEKEND

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's basketball team split two games over the weekend, falling to Modesto 83-35 to snap a four-game winning streak but rebounded with a 65-50 win over Marin.

Freshman Jenna Wallace contributed double-doubles in both games, making that six straight games with double-digit points and rebounds. The Knights are ranked 13th in NorCal by the CCCWBCA North Regional Preseason Poll.

The Knights were outscored 24-8 in the opening quarter and trailed 44-18 at half. Wallace contributed another double-double with 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting and 10 rebounds. Freshman Kali Cummings was the next high-scorer for the Knights with five points. Freshman Riley Wallen added seven rebounds and Cummings and freshman Megan Collins each contributed three assists.

Shasta 65, Marin 50
The Knights turned it around the following day thanks to a season-high 28 points from Wallen, who also added nine rebounds, and Wallace's double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Collins scored nine to go with a team-high four steals and four assists. Sophomore Kylee White grabbed five boards off the bench.

Shasta (5-2) hosts Folsom Lake on Tuesday and then hosts Shasta College Crossover Dec. 5-7.
