REUSS, BERGLUND WIN TITLES AT CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

MERCED, Calif. – The Shasta College swim team finished in third place at the Central Valley Conference Championships last week at Merced College.

The Knights' Audrie Reuss was the CVC champion in both 1-meter diving with 193.5 points and 3-meter diving with 173.25 points. Adessa Berglund won the 400-yard Individual Medley in 5 minutes, 40 seconds to go with her third-place finish in the 200 IM (2:36.48).

Shasta's 10 swimmers collected 937 total points to finish behind College of the Sequoias (3,177) and Merced (2,736), respectively.

The Knight women were third overall with eight swimmers, totaling 716 points. Shasta finished behind Sequoias (1,413) and Merced (1,176) and ahead of Fresno City College (677) and Clovis (85). Shasta's men's team had two swimmers competing and totaling 221 points, finishing fourth behind Sequoias (1,764), Merced (1,560) and Clovis (505), respectively.

For the men, Shasta's Bradley MacLauren was the sixth-best point total, collecting 112 points across his four events. MacLauren was second in all his events, finishing the 200 IM in 2:02.50, the 100 breaststroke in 59.93 seconds, the 100 IM in 54.41 seconds and the 200 breast in 2:10.09.

Shasta's Jacob Thulin was right behind MacLauren in points with 109 for seventh place. Thulin was second in the 50 backstroke (24.37) and the 50 freestyle (22.37), third in the 100 butterfly (53.45) and fourth in the 100 free (48.71).

For the women, Karlee Rowe was the top Knight overall with 111 points in four events for eighth place. Rowe was second in the 50 back (30.74), 50 free (25.85) and 200 free (2:08.63), and finished third in the 100 free (56.69).

Cassidy Wolsey totaled 96 points, taking fourth in the 1,650 free (23:26.05), sixth in the 500 free (6:32.86) and seventh in both the 50 back (46.54) and 200 free (2:22.44).

Amalia Shelton totaled 93 points with a third-place finish in the 50 fly (34.20), a sixth-place finish in the 100 fly (1:19.28), an eighth-place finish in the 100 free (1:08.39) and a ninth-place finish in the 500 free (7:06.15).

Ashlee Duckworth was second in her two events, finishing as the runner-up to champion teammate Reuss in 1-meter diving (159.25 points) and 3-meter diving (159.35 points).

Xanthea Reuss was third in 1-meter diving with 130.55 points.

The Knights wrap up the season at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Swim & Diving State Championships on May 5-7.
