KNIGHTS EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO 12 AFTER PERFECT 6-0 WEEK

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's softball team extended its winning streak to 12 games last week with doubleheader sweeps of College of the Redwoods (11-2, 3-0), Butte College (5-0, 4-0) and College of the Siskiyous (6-5, 11-1).

Beck was 10 for 18 with six runs and three RBIs and Tara George was 10 for 18 with eight RBIs, three extra base hits and five runs.

The Knights enter the week with four games left – two on Monday against Golden Valley Conference leading Feather River and two on Tuesday at Butte College to wrap up the regular season.

The Knights used an eight-run fourth inning to blow the game open, highlighted by Tara George's grand slam and a pair of two-run doubles from Brooke Blades and Reese Bertain. Reilly Rupert got the win, fanning seven, walking one and allowing one earned run on four hits. George was 3 for 4, Destinee Baird was 2 for 3 with a two-run homer, three RBIs and two runs, Bertain was 2 for 3 and Chloe Luna was 2 for 2 with a double and a run. Rupert also went 2 for 4 at the plate with a run.

Marissa Hopkins doubled in Baird in the fourth and Blades drew a bases loaded walk for a 2-0 lead. Bertain's RBI single to score Hopkins in the sixth was added insurance. Hopkins was 2 for 3 with a double and Baird, Lindsey Beck and Bertain accounted for the other three Knight hits. Carli Lewis threw a four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and no walks.

Rupert was strong in the circle, striking out four and walking two in her five-hit shutout. George was 2 for 2 with two runs and two walks, Beck was 3 for 3 with an RBI and a run, Hopkins was 2 for 3 with two doubles and three RBIs and Erica Parent was 1 for 4 with a double and a run.

Lewis struck out four and walked one to throw a three-hit shutout. Parent was 3 for 3 with two runs, George was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run, Beck was 2 for 4 with a run and Lewis was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI to help her own cause.

The Knights scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to keep the winning streak alive. Baird scored on an error, Kayla Gaw scored following an error and Parent singled in Hopkins for the go-ahead run. Baird was 2 for 3 with two runs, Beck was 2 for 2 with a run, Parent was 2 for 4 with an RBI, George had a double and an RBI and Hopkins was 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Rupert got the win, striking out nine, walking one and giving up four earned runs on 11 hits.

An eight-run second inning in the nightcap put the game out of reach early. George was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Rupert was 2 for 4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs, Beck was 1 for 2 with two RBIs, Hopkins had a double and an RBI, Gaw had a double, an RBI and two runs, and Lewis had a double and scored twice.
