KNIGHTS TAKE SERIES OVER SISKIYOUS

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College softball team ended last week with a Golden Valley Conference road sweep over College of the Siskiyous 5-2 and 6-3 following a pair of one-run losses the day before against Feather River 2-1, 2-1.

Sophomore Reilly Rupert struck out 17 batters over two games, hit a home run. Sophomore Tara George was 8 for 16 on the week.

Shasta College is 4-2 in GVC play and 10-10 overall and plays the next eight games on the road, four this week at Butte College (Friday) and Feather River (Saturday).

Feather River 2, Shasta 1 (11)
Desintee Baird scored on a Lindsey Beck sacrifice to tie it at 1 in the bottom of the sixth but Shasta gave up an RBI single to Aleka Holder in the 11th inning to suffer the loss at home. Rupert pitched the 11-inning complete-game, striking out a season-best 11 batters, walking one and allowing two runs on 10 hits. Rupert and Chloe Luna each had multi-hit games, going 2 for 4. Baird was 1 for 5 with a run.

Feather River 2, Shasta 1
Feather River managed four hits, one of them coming on a two-run homer in the fourth for the Golden Eagles' only runs of the game. Shasta had 10 hits and stranded 11 base runners in the game and its lone run came on Luna's sacrifice fly to score Alyssa Kosta. Carli Lewis took the loss, striking out six, walking one and allowing two runs on four hits. Tara George was 3 for 3 with a walk, Kosta was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Baird was 2 for 4 with a stolen base.

Shasta 5, Siskiyous 2
The Knights took the lead on a three-run fourth and never looked back. Erica Parent was 2 for 4 with a double, a stolen base and two runs, Marissa Hopkins and Reese Bertain each had a hit and a run and Beck scored once. Rupert picked up the win in the circle, fanning four, walking one and giving up two runs on five hits in the complete game.

Shasta 6, Siskiyous 3
Shasta scored all six runs in the first three innings, highlighted by Rupert's solo home run. She was 2 for 4 in the game with a triple and scored twice. Parent was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run, George was 3 for 4 and Kosta and Bertain each were 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run. Lewis struck out nine and didn't allow a walk while giving up two earned runs on five hits in the victory.
