Grady competes at CCCAA State  Championships

 

FRESNO, Calif. – Shasta College freshman runner Avery Grady competed at the California Community College Athletic Association's State Cross-Country Championships on Saturday and finished in 153rd place.

Grady, a freshman from Enterprise High in Redding, ran the 4-mile course at Woodward Park in 23 minutes, 10.3 seconds for an average mile of 5:47.6. It was his seventh-best average mile from the reported meets this season.

Grady was 28th two weeks earlier in the NorCal championships on his home course, in which he ran nearly one minute better than his state championship time.

He was the lone Knight to compete at the state championship meet and the only Golden Valley Conference representative to race.

Carson Bix of El Camino won the race in 20:07.6 with an average mile of 5:01.9.

Mt. San Antonio College won the men's team championship with 37 points, having all five runners finish in the top 17.

The Knights did not have a women's competitor.

LA Harbor won the women's team title with 72 points, having all five in the top 28. Brenda Rosales Coria won the 3-mile race in 17:59.5 for an average mile of 5:48.3. Butte's Stefanie Valdez was the lone GVC runner to compete, finishing in 154th (23:41.4).
