KNIGHTS COMPETE AT TORO PARK INVITE

SALINAS – Three Shasta College cross-country runners competed at the Toro Park Invitational on Friday hosted by Hartnell College in Salinas.

The Knights freshman Avery Grady, an Enterprise High graduate in Redding, was the only men's competitor, finishing the 4-mile course in 19th place in 22 minutes, 31.7 seconds. Grady had an average mile of 5:38 and was 11th among freshman.

Shasta had two women compete in the 3-mile with freshmen Elizabeth Clarkson and Savanna Sanderson. Clarkson, an Enterprise High grad in Redding, ran an average mile of 8:01.2 to for a total time of 24:03.5 for 27th place. Sanderson, who is from Redding and went to Phoenix Charter, was 36th place in 28:58.3, turning in an average mile of 9:39.5.

Chabot's Reece Proctor was the top runner for the men in 21:07.7 and Hartnell won the Invitational with 37 points, having four in the top 10.

Hartnell's Monica Ruelas was the top women's competitor in 19:03.0 and Hartnell won the team competition with 15 points.

Shasta College hosts the NorCal Pink October Preview/Jim Middleton Invite Friday at 2 p.m.
