SAN FRANCISCO – The Shasta College cross-country racers competed in the Lou Vasquez Invitational Thursday at Golden Gate Park (Polo Fields) in San Francisco.
Knights' freshman Avery Grady once again led the Shasta men with a 23rd place finish. Grady, who was 13th among freshmen, ran an average mile of 5 minutes, 44.5 seconds and finished in 22:57.7. Geoffrey Chavez was next for the Knights in 42nd in 24:19.8 (an average mile of 6:05) and Jonathan Harrison was 74th in 33:05.7 (8:16.05).
Shasta College did not have enough runners to field a full team for both the men's and women's competition.
For the Knights' women runners, Elizabeth Clarkson was 23rd in 26:05.6, for an average mile of 8:23.4. Crystalle McDonald was 25th in 26:37.2, an average mile of 8:33.6.
Shasta College's season continues Friday at the Toro Park Invitational at Hartnell College in Salinas with a 3:30 p.m. start time for the women and 4:30 p.m. for the men.
