GRADY LEADS KNIGHTS AT HUMBOLDT INVITE

The Shasta College men's and women's cross-country teams competed against NCAA Division II and NAIA programs at the Humboldt Invitational on Saturday.

The men's race was 8K (nearly five miles) and Shasta's Avery Grady finished 16th in the race in 27 minutes, 57 seconds for an average mile of 5:37. The other Knights who competed were Geoffrey Chavez, who finished 22nd in 28:50, and Coty Garber, who took 37th in 44:30.

Shasta had four women compete in the 6K race but did not field a full team. The Knights were led by Elizabeth Clarkson, who was 34rd in 31:10. Clarkson's average mile was 8:21. McKenzie Morey-Adams was 36th in 33:54, Savanna Sanderson was 40th in 38:31 and Crystalle McDonald was 41st in 40:56.

It was the first meet of the season for the Knights, who race Saturday at College of the Siskiyous conference preview.
