KNIGHTS SPLIT GVC MATCHES WITH REDWOODS, FEATHER RIVER

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's volleyball team split a pair of Golden Valley Conference matches last week, sweeping College of the Redwoods and losing to No. 2 Feather River.

Jennifer Troxclair paced the Knights with 13 kills in the sweep of Redwoods, which Shasta won 25-13, 25-23, 25-19.  Aliyah Rosado Cruz had three kills and 12 assists and Danae Ford had three kills, 10 assists, 12 digs and three aces. Charly Simpson added four solo blocks and a pair of kills while Olivia Kaczmarek's four aces were a team-high.

In the loss to Feather River, the state's No. 2 ranked team, the Knights fell 25-17, 25-11, 25-20. Ford's seven kills led Shasta and the setter added 12 assists. Kaczmarek had five kills, Simpson added four kills and two solo blocks and Rosado Cruz had a team-best 12 digs to go with eight assists and three kills.

Shasta has three games this week to make up a PGE power outage match against Butte along with playing at College of the Siskiyous Wednesday and at home against Redwoods on Friday.
