KNIGHTS STILL SEARCHING FOR FIRST GVC WIN

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College women's soccer team is still looking for its first Golden Valley Conference win after losing at home to Butte College 4-1 and tying College of the Siskiyous 1-1 last week.

The winless streak reaches five matches for the Knights, who are 2-8-1 overall this season and 0-4-1 in conference play.

Shasta sophomore Paige Reed tied the game against Butte at 1 in the 25th minute with an unassisted goal. The Knights gave up one goal before half and then a pair 11 minutes apart in the second half. Shasta freshman goalie Bethany Saver recorded nine saves in the loss.

Against Siskiyous, the Knights took a 1-0 lead when freshman Oliva Smith set up freshman Jenna Monahan in the 20th minute for her first goal of the season. Siskiyous' Millie Hanson scored in the 65th minute to tie it at 1, which would be the end result.

Reed's four goals on the season is the most on the Knights and Sather's 82 saves is eighth in the state and tops among GVC goalkeepers.

Shasta has one match this week at Lassen College on Tuesday with a 2 p.m. start.
