OROVILLE, Calif. – The Shasta College women's basketball team was outscored 46-15 in the first half and never caught up in a 65-40 Golden Valley Conference road loss on Saturday.
Butte jumped on Shasta 26-9 after the opening period and never looked back, holding Shasta to single digits in scoring in each of the first three periods. Shasta outscored Butte 18-3 in the fourth quarter.
Shasta shot 2 of 16 (13 percent) from 3-point range and 31 percent from the floor (16 of 52) in the contest, including committing 21 turnovers.
Isabela Padilla led the Knights in scoring with 15 points, Amber Wallace added 10 points, tallying three of the Knights' four assists. Kaleia Mizuta scored seven points and grabbed four steals and Iiobii Nabahe-Henry and Jeanna Bucher each grabbed six rebounds in the loss.
Shasta (2-2 GVC, 9-12) hosts College of the Redwoods Saturday at 7 p.m.
