REDDING, Calif. – Offensive struggles plagued Shasta College's women's basketball team last week as the Knights fell to 0-2 in Golden Valley Conference play with a pair of home losses to College of the Siskiyous on Wednesday and Feather River on Saturday.

The Knights snapped their three-game winning streak by being outgunned in the 74-59 loss to Siskiyous, falling behind 25-9 after the opening quarter and trailing by 26 at the half. Shasta shot 23-of-72 (32 percent) from the field in the game. Despite the loss, both Jenna Wallace (19 points, 14 rebounds) and Riley Wallen (16 points, 11 rebounds) recorded double-doubles. Megan Collins contributed 14 points, seven boards and seven assists and Tessa Thomsen grabbed 11 rebounds off the bench.

On Saturday against Feather River, Shasta looked to have solved their shooting woes. Jenna Wallace scored 10 of her team-best 18 points in the opening quarter as Shasta led 24-16.

A Wallace bucket followed by a Kali Cummings steal converted into a Collins layup fueled a 9-2 run to stretch the Knights' lead to 38-22 midway through the second period.

But Shasta couldn't shake a few dry spells the rest of the game as Feather River scored 14 of the next 16 points to end the half down six.

In the second half, the Knights went 15 minutes with only one field goal, allowing the Golden Eagles to go on a 21-2 run and a 39-11 run across 20 minutes.

Wallace led Shasta with 18 points while Riley Wallen scored 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds, Collins scored 13 points with six steals and Cummings scored 10 points.

Shasta, which entered the week with six wins in its past seven games, plays at Butte College on Saturday.
