SHASTA COLLEGE BEATS REDWOODS IN FINALE

EUREKA, Calif. – The Shasta College women's basketball team ended the season on a strong note Wednesday, beating College of the Redwoods 67-63.

Shasta's three starting sophomores – Julia Hill, Aubrie Wall and Kilee Hannan each scored in double figures to lead the Knights in the finale, finishing 15-13 on the year and 4-6 in Golden Valley Conference play. Shasta was fourth in the GVC standings behind College of the Siskiyous, Feather River and Lassen, respectively.

The Knights trailed 35-33 at half but held the Corsairs to 14 points each in the third and fourth quarters to hang on for the win.

Hill led all scorers with 22 points and turned it into a double-double with 12 rebounds. Wall scored 17 points and Hannan also had a double-double with 14 points and a season-high 13 rebounds. Freshman Jordan Martinez recorded a team-best four assists and tied for the team lead with Wall and Kayla Bonomini with three steals each.

Wall led the team in scoring this season with 343 points (12.7 points per game), followed by Hannan's 320 points (11.4 PPG) and Hill's 306 points (11.5 PPG). Hill was the team's top rebounder with 197 – a per-game average of 7.3 – and Martinez led the Knights in assists with 117, an average of 4.2.
