KNIGHTS SPLIT PAIR OF GVC GAMES

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's basketball team split a pair of Golden Valley Conference games last week, losing to Lassen 59-49 and beating Butte 59-56.

In the loss to the Cougars on Wednesday, the Knights shot 5 of 26 from 3-point land and 12 of 47 (25 percent) from the floor. Shasta was outscored 20-13 in the second quarter and trailed by 11 entering the final period. Sophomore Julia Hill led Shasta with 13 points and nine rebounds while sophomore Aubrie Wall scored 12 points, and freshman Keely Tuggle scored 10 points to go with six rebounds.

In Saturday's win over the Roadrunners, Knights' sophomore point guard Kilee Hannan poured in a season-high 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds. It was Hannan's first 20-point game this season, besting her previous high of 19 points against Gavilan on Dec. 28.

Shasta led by four at half and by 12 entering the final period but held off the Butte despite its 24-point fourth quarter. Hill nearly turned in a double-double for the second straight game with 14 points and nine rebounds. That's three straight games scoring in double digits for the sophomore forward, the first time she's done that since the first three games of the season.

Knights' freshman Jordan Martinez scored eight points. Shasta (14-12, 3-5 GVC) hosts Feather River on Wednesday in the home finale.
