KNIGHTS EARN 24 TOP-FIVE FINISHES AT BEAVER MINI MEET

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College track and field team collected 24 top-five finishes at the Beaver Mini Meet at American River College on Saturday.

Among those top placers was three event victories coming from Alyssa Burke in the women's triple jump with a mark of 35 feet, 8.5 inches on her final attempt, Brock Fisher winning the men's 110-meter hurdles in 15.67 seconds, and Chris Martinez winning the men's pole vault with a height of 11-7.75 on his last try.

Women
Running: Shasta's 4x100 Relay team of Jenna Hodges, Kylanna Bluford, Maddison Smedley and Kayla Bowden was third in 53.65. Bowden was third in the 100 hurdles (19.03), 14th in both the 100 (14.15) and the 200 (30.58). Alia Sager was fourth in the 100 hurdles (19.26). Hodges was 10th in the 100 (13.83).

Field: Burke followed her event win up with a second-place finish in the long jump (16-3) on her first attempt. Bluford was third in the long jump (15-7.5), fifth in triple jump (31-9.25), and Shalene Cobb was sixth in the long jump (13-8.25) and seventh in the triple jump (30-1.5). Hodges was fourth in both the long jump (15-3.25) and the triple jump (32-7).

Throwing: Alyson Zuidema was 10th in the hammer throw (100-10), 17th in the javelin (62-5), 22nd in the discus (74-5), 23rd in the shot (24-0.25). Emmaline Forrester was 17th in the discus (85-5) and the hammer throw (61-10) and 18th in the shot put with a mark of 27-2.75 on her second attempt. Gabby Castillo was 16th in the hammer throw (63-7) and 24th in the shot (20-3.5).

Men
Running: Shasta's 4x100 Relay Team of Carson Marx, Cody Beaumont, Kenyon Riley and Dy'Shone Hayes was third in 43.93. Fisher was second in the 400 hurdles (1:00.13) and 13th in the 100 (11.84), Hayes was sixth in the 100 (11.45) and the 200 (23.10). Riley was fifth in the 200 (23.04) and seventh in the 100 (11.47). Avery Grady was third in the 1,500 (4:18.57) and seventh in the 800 (2:09.28).

Field: Following Martinez's pole vault win, Shasta had the next three placers with Eric Valdez, Connor Nix and Aaron Young each hitting 11-1.75. Marx was fifth in the long jump (20-1), Beaumont was second in the triple jump (41-2.5) and seventh in the long jump (18-8.5) and Bradley Murray was 11th in the long jump (17-3.5).

Throwing: Cole Parker was second in the javelin (146-7) and fifth in the shot put (13.13) and Payton Harrell was fifth in the discus (125-1) and 10th in the shot put (38-3.25). Ian Montague was sixth in the discus (124-4) and Aedan Slack was fourth in the hammer throw (123-7) and 13th in the discus (108-11). Jim Mosen was seventh in the shot put (40-7), eighth in the hammer throw (100-2) and 18th in the discus (97-9), and Hoku-Lani Wickard was 13th in the javelin (110-8).
