STRONG SHOWING FROM KNIGHTS AT RAIDER INVITE

ASHLAND, Ore. – Shasta College's track and field team competed against NCAA Division II, NAIA, Oregon and California Community Colleges at the Southern Oregon University Raider Invite on April 20.

The Knight men had 12 top-10 finishes on the afternoon and the women had nine top-10 finishes.

For the men, Shasta's 4x100-meter relay team of Kenio Mike, Cody Beaumont, Peter Savride and Chris Rosero was fourth in 43.10 seconds. Rosero stood out on the day, taking second in the 200 (22.05) and third in the 100 (10.84).

Cole Parker was third in the shot put with a season-best mark of 44 feet, 11 inches, and was 12th in the javelin (152-5), Erik Valdez was third in the pole vault with a season-best mark of (14-1.25), and Payton Harrell was seventh in the shot put with a season-best mark of 41-5. Harrell was also eighth in the discus (122-7) and 12th in the hammer throw (109-9). Beaumont was sixth in the triple jump (44-5.5), seventh in the 200 (22.39), and 12th in the long jump (20-1.75)

In running events, Caleb Tolbertson was sixth in the 400 hurdles (1:05.48) and 15th in the 400 (55.03), Samuel Grafe was sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:14.12), and Mike was 17th in the 100 (11.36). In the 1-mile race, Michael Williams was 15th (6:09.64) and Rogelio Maldanado was 16th (6:20.29).

For field events, Justin Hellyer was fourth in the javelin with a season-best mark of 171-11, Patrick Bigelow was fifth in the pole vault (13-1.5), Ashton Vanzant was 11th in the triple jump (41-1) and 20th in the long jump (18-11.75), Creed Stedman was 13th in the triple jump (39-3) and 21st in the long jump (17-0.75), Savrides was 14th in the javelin with a throw of 136-2, and Derek Bruner was 15th in the hammer throw (94-7) and 18th in the shot put (10.27).

WOMEN

Shasta's 4x100 relay team of Madison Barragan, Kayla Bickford, Maddison Smedley and Julisa Wold was third in 52.69 seconds.

Julia Hill was fourth in the javelin with a season-best mark of 101-10 and 11th in the long jump (14-0.5). Cassie Young was third in the pole vault (10-2) and eighth in the high jump (4-11). Claire Walton was third in the shot put (36-9.75), fifth in the discus (106-2) and 15th in the hammer throw (79-4). Gabby Castillo was 16th in the hammer throw (68-2) and 17th in the shot put (19-11.5), Regin Loftin was 11th in the javelin (78-8), and Alyson Zuidema was 12th in the discus (61-11).

For the runners, Wold was eighth in the 100 (13.16) and 20th in the 200 (29.42), and Julie Bradley was seventh in the 1-mile race (6:33.40).

Barragan was ninth in the long jump (15-6.75), 12th in the 100 (13.62) and 16th in the 200 (28.36).
