FRESNO, Calif. – The Shasta College women's swimming and diving team took fifth place at the 2019 Arena Ram Crush Invite in Fresno on Feb. 22-23 while the Knight men were seventh.
Combined, the Knights took seventh at the meet.
Shasta College freshman Howard Evans was sixth overall for the men with 80 individual points and Dana McMurtrey finished ninth among the women with 75 points. Both of them placed in five of their six events.
McMurtrey was fourth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:30.85) and 200 freestyle (2:09.34), fifth in the 50 back (32.39) and 100 back (1:10.78) and seventh in the 100 free (58.73).
Anglique Passidakis took first in both the 1-meter diving with a score of 155 points and the 3-meter diving with a score of 146.75 points.
Aida Kowalski had 46 individual points. She placed in three events, taking third in the 50 back (31.93), seventh in the 200 back (2:40.81) and eighth in the 100 back (1:12.33).
Brooke Engles and Mirena Guillot each totaled 30 points. Engles finished eighth in the 200 back (2:42.17) and 11th in the 100 back (1:19.98), and 12th in the 50 back (35.77). Guillot was sixth in the 200 butterfly (3:27.86), eighth in the 50 fly (31.64) and 11th in the 100 fly (1:20.02). Nicole Keane collected 23 total points. Her top finishes were ninth in the 200 breaststroke (3:12.45), 10th in the 200 back (3:02.74) and 13th in the 100 back (1:21.99).
Autumn Moore had 12 points. She was 11th in both the 50 breast (39.26) and 200 breast (3:15.01).
For the men, Evans was second in the 200 Individual Medley (2:03.78), third in the 200 breast (2:19.33), fourth in the 50 free (21.95), fifth in the 200 free (1:50.65) and seventh in the 100 free (50.36).
Bryon Upshaw's top two events was the 200 back (12th, 2:45.29), and the 100 IM (15th, 1:09.29). Mitchell Palmer's top events was the 100 IM (13th, 1:08.94) and the 200 breast (15th, 2:56.35) and Curtis Moore's top two events were the 50 back (14th, 32.42) and 200 back (15th, 2:59.79).
