SHASTA SWIMMING SECOND AT SOLANO INVITE

FAIRFIELD, Calif. – The Shasta College swim teams finished in second place at the Solano College Invitational on Saturday.

Shasta scored 713 points combined between the men's and women's teams, second to San Joaquin Delta's 1,443 points.

The Knight women scored 444 points with 23 top-eight finishes.

Shasta's 200-yard Medley Relay team of Stephanie Parsons, Abby Griffith, Nicole Keane and Maite Silva was third in 2 minutes, 13.03 seconds, and the 400 freestyle relay team of Dana McMurtrey, Haley Moebes, Mirena Guillot and Jericho Strege was second (4:23.00).

Griffith collected the most points (51) among the women swimmers for the Knights. She finished second in all three of her events: 1,650 free (19:46.52), 200 free (2:08.82), 100 backstroke (1:09.69).

Angelique Passidakis was the lone Shasta female competitor to win an event, capturing first in 3-meter diving with 100.65 points. She was also third in 1-meter diving (117.82).

Strege was second in the 50 butterfly (29.85) and 100 breaststroke (1:17.88) and third in the 200 Individual Medley (2:30.70). McMurtrey was second in the 100 IM (1:11.43), third in the 200 free (2:08.96), and fifth in the 100 breast (1:21.24).

Parsons was third in the 50 fly (30.21), fifth in the 100 free (1:01.88) and seventh in the 200 IM (2:38.45), and Silva was third in the 50 breast (39.05), fifth in the 100 back (1:15.43) and seventh in the 200 free (2:26.54).

Moebes was fourth in both the 100 back (1:13.33) and 100 IM (1:14.35) and sixth in the 50 fly (30.53), Keane was fourth in the 50 breast (40.25), and Guillot was fifth in the 100 fly (1:17.61) and eighth in the 50 free (28.34).

BOYS

The Shasta men scored 269 points compared to San Joaquin Delta's 528 points.

Jared Marrs was the high-point winner among the Knight men, winning the 100 breast (1:12.71), taking third in the 200 free (2:07.35) and fourth in the 50 free (26.01).

Shasta's 400 free relay team of Ben Morris, Marrs, Joaquin Silva and Bryon Upshaw was second in 4:05.26.

Mitchell Palmer was second in both the 1,650 free (23:23.89) and 200 breast (2:56.64), and third in the 100 breast (1:21.52). Silva was second in the 50 free (24.51) and 100 back (1:12.33), and was third in the 100 free (55.94). Upshaw was second in the 100 fly (1:09.65), was fifth in the 100 free (57.22) and was sixth in the 50 free (26.27).

Ben Morris was third in the 100 back (1:22.71) and was seventh in the 50 free (26.50) and 100 free (1:00.34).
