SHASTA LOSES DOUBLEHEADER TO BUTTE

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's softball team lost a home doubleheader to Butte College on Thursday, falling 8-0 in six innings and 16-0 in five innings.

The Knights put together five hits across the two contests, two from freshman Khloe Forrister.

In the first game, Butte pulled away with a four-run fifth inning and Shasta committed four errors. Sophomore Kaylie McDaniel allowed five earned runs on 10 hits in six innings to take the loss. Shelbe Cappello and sophomore Madeline Nightingale each went 1 for 3 and Forrister was 1 for 2.

In Game Two, freshman Whitney Carnes took the loss in the circle, allowing 10 earned runs on 14 hits in four innings. Shasta had two hits in the game with Forrister and freshman Ashley Rauch both going 1 for 2 at the plate. Sophomore Autumn Giannini and Carnes each drew a walk.

Shasta (1-5) hosts College of the Siskiyous Thursday for a doubleheader at noon and 2 p.m.
