SHASTA COLLEGE SWEPT FOR FIRST TIME THIS SEASON

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College softball team suffered its first doubleheader sweep of the season, losing a pair of games against Foothill College after lose two in San Mateo.

Shasta College started the week with a 5-1 record but the four losses events their overall mark on the year at 5-5.

San Mateo 5, Shasta College 0
The Knights totaled five hits, two coming from Marissa Hopkins and one each from Destinee Baird, Lindsey Beck and Tara George. Reilly Rupert took the loss in the circle, giving up five runs on eight hits in six innings. She struck out one and walked two.

Foothill College 7, Shasta College 0
Baird's 2 for 4 performance was the lone multi-hit game for the Knights, who managed four total hits in the game. Beck and Chloe Luna had a hit apiece while Alyssa Kosta walked twice and stole a base. Rupert struck out one, walked one and yielded seven runs one eight hits in six frames.

Foothill College 9, Shasta College 1 (7)
The Knights took a 1-0 lead on Rupert's single to center field to score Kosta in the second inning. But that was all the offense Shasta could muster as the Knights left eight on base in the game and totaled three hits. Kosta was 1 for 3 with a run, Rupert was 1 for 2 with an RBI single and a walk and a stolen base, and Jacelyn Parratt was 1 for 2. Erica Parent stole a base for the Knights.

Carli Lewis took the loss for Shasta, giving up nine runs on 13 hits in 5.1 innings. She walked four and struck out four.

Shasta (5-5) plays a doubleheader at Los Medanos on Friday and goes to Cabrillo College Saturday to play Cabrillo and Reedley.
