SHASTA COLLEGE DROPS TWO GVC MATCHES

REDDING, Calif. – The Knights couldn't keep their winning streak going, losing to Feather River 4-1 at home and to No. 5 Butte 3-0 on the road last week.

Shasta College, coming off back-to-back victories for the first time this season, tied Feather River at 1 in the first half with an unassisted goal from Miguel Ortiz III. But Shasta gave up a goal in the 38th minute to trail at half and couldn't keep pace.

Goalkeeper Adam Nichols recorded 13 saves in net for the Knights, who totaled six shots on goal in the match, two from Santiago Valera and Ortiz III and one each from Sam Elwood and Jose Antonio Hinojosa.

In the loss to Butte, the Knights gave up two goals in the first 10 minutes and managed only one shot on goal from Ortiz III. Nichols had 10 saves in the defeat for the Knights.

Shasta drops to 3-5 in Golden Valley Conference Play and 4-7 overall and hosts Lassen College Tuesday at 4 p.m., pending statewide PG&E power outages.
