SACRAMENTO – The Shasta College men's basketball team lost all three of its games at the 44th James Clark Classic, falling to Cosumnes River 78-39, losing to Reedley 68-59 and dropping a 79-47 contest to Las Positas.
Benjamin Keown was the only Knight to score in double figures in all three games.
Cosumnes River 78, Shasta 39
The Knights trailed 39-24 at halftime and only put up 15 points in the second half. Shasta shot 29 percent from the field and committed 15 turnovers. Keown led Shasta in scoring with 14 points and Carson Kingston chipped in with nine points and four rebounds. Christopher Phipps and Anthony Sanchez tied for the team lead with five rebounds.
Reedley 68, Shasta 59
Shasta led by five at halftime but was outscored 43-29 in the second half. The Knights made 10 3-pointers in the game, three by both Keown and Aiden Pearsall-Morgan. Keown finished with 15 points and six rebounds, Sanchez scored 12 points to go with five boards, Kingston scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds and Tyrese Christie scored nine points off the bench.
Las Positas 79, Shasta 47
The Knights were doubled up in the second half 40-20 after putting up 27 in the first half. Ten of the 11 Knights scored in the game with Keown leading the way with 14 points as the lone Shasta player in double figures. Christie scored seven points and pulled down a team-best nine rebounds and Pearsall-Morgan chipped in with seven points.
Shasta (1-9) has lost six straight and plays Modesto on Thursday to open the 85th Modesto Tournament.
