KNIGHTS WIN ONE OF THREE AT SHASTA INVITE

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta College men's basketball team won one of three games at the Shasta College Invitational over the weekend.

The Knights lost to Cabrillo 69-59 on Thursday, fell to American River 79-56 on Friday and beat Merritt 66-55 Saturday.

Cabrillo 69, Shasta 59
The Knights trailed 33-25 at half and was outrebounded 42-21 in the game. Derek Gorden shot 6 of 14 from 3-point range, making more than half of the Knights' 11 3-pointers, for 29 points. Samer Khalil had eight points, four rebounds and three assists, Adam Shoff added eight points and Armal Dhinsa chipped in with seven points.

American River 79, Shasta 56
The Knights shot 8 of 28 from 3 and 6 of 13 from the free throw line. Shasta's bench accounted for 30 points with Kevin Cox leading the way with nine points as 14 Shasta players scored in the game. Dilrajveer Sahota scored nine points, Jayden Curl led the team with seven rebounds.

Shasta 66, Merritt 55
The Knights led 38-30 at half and shot 15 of 18 from the free throw line to pick up their lone win in their own invitational. Gorden paced Shasta with 15 points, Simerjot Singh added 13 points and six rebounds, Khalil scored nine points.

Shasta (4-4) plays at Yuba on Nov. 30.
