SHASTA COLLEGE POUNDS REDWOODS 74-47 TO END SKID

EUREKA, Calif. – The Shasta College men's basketball team snapped an eight-game losing streak by pounding College of the Redwoods 74-47 Saturday in the Golden Valley Conference opener.

The Knights led 31-12 at half and hit a season-high 12 3-pointers in the victory, four of which came from lone sophomore Tanner Guinn who scored a team-best 16 points.

Shasta turned in season-highs in 3-pointers made, 3-point field goal percentage (50%), rebounds (45) and assists (23).

Freshmen Jordan Chao and Mike Maasen each scored 10 points off the bench as the Knights bench scored 45 points, nearly outscoring the entire Redwoods team.

Freshman Elijah Ramirez pulled down seven rebounds, Michael Plunkitt and Brendan Hoag each had six boards and Plunkitt dished six assists.

Shasta improves to 3-13 overall and 1-0 in GVC play and heads to Butte College on Saturday.
