The Knights hosted Diablo Valley College on Saturday October 5th in what would turn out to be a thrilling game. The scoring started with Shasta taking an early lead with a 22-yard field goal by Diego Almodovar. Diablo Valley quickly responded with a 17-yard touchdown run by Ferrari Miller to take the lead. Shasta regained the lead in the second quarter with a 65-yard touchdown pass from Levi Durrell to Jahari Johnson to end the first half with the Knights up 10-7.
In the third quarter, Shasta extended their lead with a 45-yard touchdown pass from Durrell to Zemerion Silas. They scored again in the fourth quarter with a 9-yard run by Durrell. Diablo Valley managed to score one more touchdown in the fourth quarter with a 25-yard pass from Teddy Booras to Yannik Berg.
Overall, Shasta outperformed Diablo Valley in total offense with 450 total yards compared to Diablo Valley's 280 yards. Shasta's passing game was particularly strong, with Durrell throwing for 346 yards and two touchdowns. Shasta's defense also played a crucial role in the game, limiting Diablo Valley's high-powered offense and coming up with multiple key stops.
In the end, Shasta secured the victory with a final score of 22-15, improving their record to 2-2 for the season. On the other hand, Diablo Valley fell to 3-1 after suffering their first loss of the season.
The Knights have a bye this week and will open up Nor-Cal Conference play on Saturday October 19th when they travel to American River College for a 1:00 kick-off.
